gettysburg address take two

in the basement of some disney warehouse

the defunct abraham lincoln animatronic recites the gettysburg address

and a handful of other speeches programmed into its throat.

it says, the world has never had a good definition of the word liberty.

if it was capable of thinking, it would think that liberty

is standing on a stage in front of a crowd of faces that almost look familiar

but that’s only because it doesn’t know what the sky looks like. 

if circuits could remember, they would long for funnel cakes and 

other things that would destroy it from the inside. 

it says, as a nation of free men, we must live through all times, or die by suicide.

if a thing strung together by wire falls off of a third story balcony

does that count as suicide? only if it’s on purpose and only if it dies.

it says, let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.

if a collection of metal that has never seen the sun was able to

believe in god, it would try to pray. which is of course impossible.

its knees just weren’t made to bend that way.
